Seattle Seahawks running back Adrian Peterson is not happy with the officiating in their Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and he expressed as much in his latest post on Instagram.

Peterson called for a change in officiating in his Instagram post, noting that what happened in their 20-10 defeat to the Rams denied them of a chance to turn things around and possibly win the game. On the photo he attached with the post, the Seahawks star even shared his son's reaction to the officiating as the youngster asked his dad if the officials “just want the Rams to win.”

The 36-year-old vet is not simply criticizing the officiating, though. Instead, he proposed a solution of getting crucial calls reviewed, particularly on big plays that can alter the course of the match.

“These are literally life changing moments that shouldn’t be overlooked. I feel there are certain plays where officials should come together, review, and get the call right. Especially plays that are being displayed on million dollar Jumbotrons where the entire stadium and every football loving fan across the world can see,” Peterson wrote in his caption.

“These plays can be simply challengeable plays where you either win or lose and the show continues. Having these opportunities doesn’t take away from the game. Losing a timeout due to a failed challenge can be detrimental! However, not having that option takes away from the integrity of the game and helps dictate the outcome of games.”

Against the Rams, there were a number of missed calls that went against the Seahawks. Perhaps the most controversial one was Russell Wilson's fourth-down pass to running back DeeJay Dallas with just over three minutes left in the clock and Seattle trailing by seven points.

Dallas was clearly hit before the ball arrived, but there was no flag from the officials for what was obviously a pass interference. The no-call drew a lot of reactions online, with several fans criticizing the officials for missing such call.

While Adrian Peterson admitted that the officiating is not the only reason they lost, he claimed that it “robbed” them the opportunity to turn the game around. It was still a winnable contest up until that fourth-quarter blunder from the officials–which was made worse after Dallas incurred a 15-yard penalty for kicking the ball in frustration over the no call. Ouch!

“I don’t make excuses and I also feel any situation can be overcome, but, opportunities are all you need to create change. We got robbed of that last night on two critical plays which resulted in a 7 point swing and took away great field position that would’ve given us a chance to put points on the board. We then have a clear missed PI call that ended our opportunity to right the previous wrong of the officials. In critical moments of the game, they were presented with opportunities that we were not due to plays that should’ve been reviewable.”

It is not the first time that the NFL officiating has been criticized by players, and it certainly warrants some action from the league. After all, as Peterson said it, one bad call (or no call for that matter) can change the flow of the game and affect the end results just what happened to the Seahawks.

In a league where every game matters, officiating undoubtedly needs to be as near perfect as possible. Not to mention that things should be stricter at this point of the season when teams are vying for playoff positioning.

The Seahawks' loss dropped them to 5-9 this 2021 campaign, with their chances of making the postseason virtually close to zero.
