The Seattle Seahawks managed to outlast the lowly Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend en route to a 1-0 record after Week 1 of the 2019 regular season. However, the Seahawks definitely know that the team stole one at home after playing poorly against an opponent that should not have kept it close.

Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald stated that Seattle must be better going forward, especially after Sunday afternoon 21-20 scare against the Bengals.

Via Michael-Shawn Dugar in The Athletic:

“I’m happy as hell for [Quinton Jefferson], man, he had a hell of a day,” McDougald said over the weekend. “He made some major plays out there. If we’re going to be the defense we think we can be, we need more than just two guys to step up. Ziggy and Clowney can’t do it every week; you’re going to have to have guys come up there and stand up.

“Earlier in training camp they asked me what I think about this defense, the young guys stepping into leading roles. I said everybody is hungry, everybody wants to become a household name and prove who they are on the Seahawks.”

It's not getting any easier in Week 2, as the Seahawks will be forced to make their way across the country to matchup against the 0-1 Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only that, but the Seahawks will be forced to compete against some tough divisional opponents in the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers. Although the Rams figure to be the only real threat this time around, both the 49ers and Cardinals recently showed that neither will go down without a fight this season.
