Seattle Seahawks pass-rusher Ezkiel Ansah is listed as questionable for his team's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as noted by Pro Football Talk. If his absence from the season-opener is any indication, though, don't expect the veteran to take the field on Sunday.

Ansah was also deemed questionable on the injury report leading up to Week 1, but didn't play in Seattle's 21-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

It comes as no surprise that Ansah's status for the first weeks of the regular season is in doubt. The Seahawks fully expected him to take awhile to recover from offseason shoulder surgery upon signing him in early May, and Pete Carroll reiterated throughout the summer and training camp that Ansah wouldn't be rushed back to the field before he gained a completely clean bill of health.

The 30-year-old signed a one-year, $9 million deal with the Seahawks after playing last season for the Detroit Lions. He appeared in just seven games in 2018, the fewest since Detroit took him with the fifth overall pick of the 2013 draft.

Ansah suffered a right shoulder injury in the Lions’ season-opener that caused him to miss the next six games. Though he was never completely pain-free, Ansah nevertheless returned to action,  eventually exacerbating the injury on December 9th against the Arizona Cardinals. He was placed on injured reserve two days later.

Ansah was on track to play midway through the preseason, but suffered a groin injury that delayed his return to the field. Carroll initially said the latest injury was “not serious at all,” and that Ansah would likely be ready to play in Week 1.
