Bobby Wagner recently became the NFL's highest-paid inside linebacker. The Seattle Seahawks defensive leader underwent a lower body procedure according to Pete Carroll.

Nearly a week ago, Wagner was able to represent himself and land a three-year, $54 million contract extension with the Seahawks. It's always impressive to see players negotiate deals as their own agent—let alone landing the most lucrative contract at your position.

As it pertains to Wagner's injury, Carroll doesn't seem to be giving any specific details. The longtime head coach did say that he “could” play in a preseason game but without knowing the injury, it's likely that Seattle plays it safe with Wagner.

Seattle will likely allow Wagner to get back to being one-hundred percent until they force him onto the field. The regular season is nearly a month away so they have some time.

Wagner has been named an All-Pro four times in his seven seasons in the NFL. Having Wagner man the middle of the defense is crucial for the Seahawks defense and what they want to do.

In his career, Wagner has just one season where he has less than 130 combined tackles. Along with being a sure-fire tackler, Wagner is one of the best at his position at being able to cover tight ends and running backs. Last year, he had a career-high 11 pass deflections.

Seahawks fans shouldn't worry too much about Wagner's mystery procedure. Unless it puts his status for Seattle's Week 1 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Until then, it's nothing but hypotheticals.
