Russell Wilson put forth his latest brilliant outing in what has been a season full of them on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams, completing 17 of his 23 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-29 win.

Afterward, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll heaped praised upon his quarterback, lauding Wilson for making plays out of nothing.

“I can’t even remember all those plays,” Carroll told reporters after the game, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “There’s so many plays. I’m thinking, ‘Russ, get down!’ And all of a sudden he pops out and he’s still going, and we start over again. And then he finds somebody and makes a 20-yard play. Must have happened five or six times tonight.”

We are only five weeks into the season, but it's hard to ignore the fact that Wilson is smack dab in the middle of the MVP race.

In his first five games, Wilson has thrown for 1,409 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions while completing 73.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 126.3.

Throw in the fact that Seattle has gotten off to a 4-1 start, and you have all of the ingredients for an MVP candidate.

Wilson is yet to win an MVP award, but he has made five Pro Bowls throughout his eight-year NFL career and appears to be well on his way to his sixth. Most importantly, he led the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013-14 and 2014-15, winning the championship during the former campaign.

Seattle will now head on the road to take on the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
