After a four-year absence from the NFL, Aldon Smith made his return with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and played better than anticipated. Although the Cowboys struggled as a whole defensively, Smith was able to produce 48 total tackles (five for a loss), 14 quarterback hits, and five sacks. He also picked up two fumbles, one of which resulted in a touchdown.

Smith is looking for a new deal in free agency after the Cowboys decided to move on, and according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, he's visiting the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.

Smith would be an excellent addition for Seattle. After an impressive return to the NFL, Smith would give the Seahawks an edge in the pass rush that could put them over the top.

The team finished with 46 sacks last season, ranking them seventh in the league. With pass coverage a major concern in Seattle, elevating the pass rush even more so would only help the secondary. It would take some pressure off the cornerbacks and safeties by forcing opposing quarterbacks to get rid of the ball earlier.

Even after being out of the league for four years, Aldon Smith can still provide consistency in the pass rush. After reports of Russell Wilson's displeasure with the franchise, the front office is making moves to keep their star quarterback happy.

The Seahawks went 12-4 last season, only to lose in the Wild Card Round to the Los Angeles Rams. Wilson trade rumors have swirled this offseason, but now it appears the focus is just upgrading the roster around him.
