Josh Allen is a fine young quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. He's performing to the levels expected of him and will become the team's long-term project. However, the glaring error of not picking Lamar Jackson at the seventh spot still hangs above their heads.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was the final selection in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and he's shown everyone that he deserves a way higher place than that with the showcase he's given the entire league in his second professional season.

Naturally, some of the Bills fans came straight to head coach Sean McDermott for his draft-day blunder. However, the head coach defended his decision to pick Allen over the Louisville product.

According to Bills Wire's Nick Wojton, he explained that McDermott fitted the team's culture better. That factor took precedence over any throwing ability.

“We went through the process with (Jackson) as well. Like I said the other day, he was a fantastic player then, and he remains a fantastic player,” McDermott said. “It wasn’t so much about [pocket passing] as — we wanted Josh Allen and everything that Josh Allen brought to Buffalo. That was the right fit for us. No disrespect at all, obviously the Ravens got a fantastic player and credit goes to them, we feel good about where Josh is.”

Jackson has thrown for 2,532 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. However, his incredible running game has turned him into one of the most incredible scramblers the league has seen since Michael Vick. Meanwhile, Allen is having a steady season with his 2,591 passing yards and 16 TDs.

Allen could still improve and come a Hall of Fame quarterback if he develops the right way. However, the Ravens so far have the steal of the draft with Jackson.
