Former Knicks and Nets teammates Shane Larkin and Andrea Bargnani will join Baskonia, or Laboral Kutxa for the next season, according to David Pick.
Shane Larkin signed with Baskonia for $900 thousand net. That exceeds his $1.5 million gross contract with Brooklyn.
Larkin and Bargnani shared the court with the New York Knicks during the 2014-2015 season. They both left in the off-season, and joined the Brooklyn Nets for the next season. But on February 20th, the Nets waived Bargnani, making him a free agent. Larkin declined his 1.5 million player option and decided to test free agency. It looks like it didn't work out, and now he'll spend the next season in Spain.
Some NBA players played for Baskonia, like Goran Dragic, Jose Calderon, Luis Scola, Mirza Teletovic, and Tiago Splitter at different points in their careers.
Andrea Bargnani was drafted 1st overall in the 2006 draft by the Toronto Raptors. He played 7 seasons with the team, and was named to the All-Rookie first team in 2007. But on July 10th, 2013, he was traded to the New York Knicks for Marcus Camby, Quentin Richardson, Steve Novak and future picks, which one was used to select Jakob Poetel in this year's draft. He played with the Knicks for 2 seasons, and then played for the Nets for 46 games.
Shane Larkin was drafted 18th overall by the Atlanta Hawks but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. After 1 season, he was traded to the New York Knicks in the Tyson Chandler trade, bringing him back to Dallas. After the 1 season with the Knicks, he signed a 2 year $3 million dollar contract with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in 78 games last season.
Hopefully if they play well enough, they can make it back into the NBA.
