Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown believes Sixers star big man Joel Embiid just had his best preseason ever.

The Sixers, who are one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference this season, are counting on Embiid to lead them to the promised land:

Embiid and the Sixers begin the 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday at home against the rival Boston Celtics. Philadelphia's starting lineup of Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris, Al Horford and Embiid is as good as it gets in the NBA.

Last season, Embiid played in 64 games for Philly. The two-time All-Star averaged 27.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 blocks while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

With two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard out in the Western Conference now playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, many pundits believe Philadelphia is the favorite to win the East this season. As is the case every year, the team will go as far as Embiid and Simmons can guide them.

Embiid looks trimmer and more agile. The Sixers need their center to be as close to 100 percent once the playoffs start. There isn't anyone in the NBA who can stop Embiid in the post when he's clicking on all cylinders.
