Former NBA superstar Charles Barkley is putting his money on the Philadelphia 76ers to win the Eastern Conference title in the 2019-20 NBA season.

With Kawhi Leonard bolting out of the defending champions Toronto Raptors, Barkley told Jared Greenberg of NBA TV that he is expecting a two-team race for the East title. The Hall of Fame forward said that he sees the Sixers going toe-to-toe against the Milwaukee Bucks for Eastern Conference supremacy.

While he is predicting a great race between the two powerhouse teams, Barkley said that he is convinced the Sixers will end up winning the conference. He admitted that he loves the Sixers and that he will be “riding and dying” with Philly, where he spent the first eight seasons of his illustrious career.

“I think it’s a two-team race in the Eastern Conference between the 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. I can’t wait until they play each other head to head.” Barkley said. “I guarantee you the Philadelphia 76ers are going to win the Eastern Conference.”

Barkley pointed out that the Sixers will have strong roster next season despite losing Jimmy Butler. Philadelphia added Al Horford and Josh Richardson while also retaining starting forward Tobias Harris. On the other hand, he thinks the Bucks will sorely miss Malcolm Brogdon, who signed with the Indiana Pacers this summer.
