The Philadelphia 76ers traded Danny Green and the 23rd pick in the NBA Draft to the Memphis Grizzlies for De'Anthony Melton on Thursday. Green had been an important part of the team over the last two years despite various injuries. He's a knockdown shooter who will be missed in Philadelphia. And his recent Twitter post makes it seem as if he will miss the Sixers as well.

PHILLY…THANK YOU!!! It’s been real To my brothers, we will always be family…the organization, coaching staff, medical staff, front office and owners I’ll always appreciate you and everything you’ve done for me….LOVE

Green spent just two seasons with the Sixers. His best year in Philadelphia came in 2020-2021, where he averaged 9.5 points on over 40 percent shooting from three-point range.

However, Green was limited to just 62 games in 2021-2022. The 34-year old veteran still averaged 6 points on 38 percent shooting from deep. So he was effective when on the court. And Danny Green's Twitter post speaks to how he felt about the organization.

But there is no denying the fact that the 76ers are getting an upgrade in De'Anthony Melton.

Melton, at just 23 years old last year, averaged 11 points on 37 percent three-point shooting to go along with over 1 steal per game. His impressive combination of scoring and defensive prowess bodes well for the Sixers. Additionally, he offers youthful energy alongside veterans such as Joel Embiid on the 76ers.

Philadelphia is looking to make a deep postseason run next year. De'Anthony Melton and Joel Embiid will look to lead the Sixers to new heights in 2022-2023.
