With the Philadelphia 76ers' 109-89 win over the New York Knicks on Saturday, Doc Rivers has claimed solo ownership of the 10th spot in the all-time regular season wins list as a coach. Per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Rivers surpassed two-time Coach of the Year and one-time NBA champion Bill Fitch as he notched his 945th career victory.

Before grabbing the solo claim for no.10 spot in all-time wins, Doc Rivers–as coach of the Los Angeles Clippers–previously passed Boston Celtics legend Red Auerbach during the NBA restart in Orlando back in August.

Rivers is one of the most respected coaches in the NBA. Majority of his teams have found success, and he looks to bring a winning culture in Philadelphia. The 59-year-old is off to a promising start with his new team, as the Sixers are now 2-0 on the season after an easy win over the lowly Knicks.

Doc has been a coach in the NBA for over two decades, with the Sixers being his fourth stop. As mentioned, he previously coached the Clippers for seven seasons, leading the franchise to its most successful run in its history. Unfortunately, after a disappointing end to a 2019-20 campaign filled with championship aspirations, Rivers and the Clips parted ways. He immediately found a new home in Philly, where he will look to rise up further in the coaching win column.

Prior to his stint in Los Angeles, Rivers spent nine seasons with the Celtics, where he won his lone NBA title as a coach in 2008. Before that, the new Sixers tactician started his head coaching career with the Orlando Magic, where he stayed from 1999 to 2003.
