Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers are being accused of tampering again, this time with Philadelphia 76ers point forward Ben Simmons. Sixers general manager Elton Brand, however, isn't really concerned about this whole situation.

Simmons apparently wanted to work with Magic in the offseason. Elton Brand then said the Sixers rejected a request from Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka for Simmons to meet with Johnson, while another report suggests Philly actually approached Los Angeles about the idea.

So, who is telling the truth? Who knows. What we do know is that Brand isn't worried about this situation and is focused on the Sixers making a deep run in the 2019 playoffs:

This doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Simmons is a big guard just like Magic was, so why wouldn't the Sixers be fine with letting their youngster get some tips from one of the greatest players in NBA history? Maybe Philly believes Johnson will try to recruit Simmons to the Lakers, but that's not really possible at this moment.

Ben Simmons, the reigning Rookie of the Year, is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Sixers this summer, and there's no reason for Elton Brand to believe that won't happen. But since it's the Lakers, the league felt it had to investigate the matter since Magic was fined for tampering with Paul George and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The NBA also investigated the Lakers and their role with Anthony Davis' trade request from the Pelicans.
