Former Duke sharpshooter J.J. Redick had a pretty good run with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. At 34-years-old, the former 11th pick overall is expected to bring much needed perimeter shooting and veteran savvy to a young team that features Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

It was a surprise to many that this young 76ers team would quickly turn into one of the elite teams in the east. Among the surprised was actually Redick himself. According to Andrew Porter of Sports Radio 94WIP,

“J.J. Redick on @PardonMyTake says that he did not expect the Sixers to be that good last year and is almost cautious in thinking about this season. JJ says so much untapped potential still. He also said it “would make sense” for him to finish his career in Philly.”

With the 76ers core of Simmons, Emiid, Fultz, and Saric still on the youthful end, it is clear that the sky is the limit going forward when it comes to potential.

If only they could all be consistently healthy, we could see the full potential of a complete and healthy roster stacked against other teams.

Despite the boundless possibilities and potential, the veteran presence of JJ Redick and newly signed Sixer Wilson Chandler will provide the necessary balance on the team.

Moreover, Philadelphia may not be just a stop for the veteran shooting guard. Needing him more than ever with playoff aspirations in tow, a lot will definitely be expected from Redick.

We might see him as a Sixer for the long haul.
