Earlier this week, the Philadelphia 76ers made a huge splash move by inking big man Joel Embiid to a massive five-year, $148 million extension.

Although there are several injury protection provisions in the deal, it is a huge commitment from the 76ers to a player that has shown huge upside on the court. This is something that Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin believes it was completely worth it, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

“He commands a lot of attention and he’s super talented offensively. When healthy he’s worth every last penny of his new contract, and also got to the free-throw line a lot,” Nets guard Jeremy Lin said of Embiid’s new five-year, $148 million deal.

Embiid put that talent on full display against the Nets on Wednesday night scoring 22 points with seven rebounds while hitting 14-of-18 from the free-throw line in just 15 minutes of action. Despite it being just his first action since Jan. 27, the 23-year-old picked up exactly where he left off prior to enduring another knee injury last season.

There is plenty of potential for this deal to work out great in Philadelphia's favor given the talent that Embiid possesses. He has shown in his limited action to be a premier player in the league that can have a tremendous impact on both ends of the floor.

Ultimately, it's something that only time will tell if it was the right decision by the 76ers.
