Jimmy Butler and the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the L.A. Clippers on New Year's Day, but it didn't come without fireworks.

Butler and Clippers guard Avery Bradley got into a shoving match in the fourth quarter as both were jostling for rebounding position. Bradley shoved Butler lightly, and Butler responded with a two-hand shove at Bradley's throat. Both were subsequently ejected for their parts in the altercation.

After the game, Butler was asked by a reporter if he expected this type of chippy game, especially because he was overheard saying that he expected to get a technical foul once he looked at the officiating crew for the game. Needless to say, Butler was surprised by the question.

“When the hell did you hear me say that?” Jimmy Butler asked with a grin.

“Pregame in the locker room,” said the reporter.

“Man, you eavesdropping for one,” responded Jimmy Butler. :”I don't remember saying that, but good try though. They tried to get me man. Eavesdroppin' ass.”

It's hard to tell if Butler was telling the truth, but many believed that sheepish grin on his face as he was leaving the media scrum said it all.
