After years of rebuilding, the Philadelphia 76ers have finally established a young core of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz. In addition to the young core, the Sixers signed JJ Redick and Amir Johnson in free agency.

As numerous All-Stars have headed to the Western Conference, the Sixers believe making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference is a realistic goal for the 2017-18 NBA season. However, to begin the new season, they are still winless after facing the Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Toronto Raptors.

Despite the 0-3 start, Redick wants the young team to remain patient as they have a very challenging schedule according to Keith Pompey of Philly:

“If we were 0-45 then I would start to panic,” J.J. Redick said. “There are 82 games. We have a very tough schedule to start. We’re a young team.”

As the Wizards, Celtics, and Raptors are considered three of the four top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers can learn from this early season adversity. While Philadelphia has arguably the league's best young core, they are still developing and learning how to win games.

After losing by 34 points to the Raptors, it will be interesting to see how the Sixers respond as they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
