Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey absolutely hates Apple products–for reasons unknown to us–but he was forced to buy an iPhone because of Joel Embiid.

In an interview with Tom Haberstroh of True Hoop, Morey shared how he was forced to purchase an iPhone just to FaceTime the Sixers big man. After all, he needed to communicate with his best player when he take on the role with the team ahead of the 2020-21 season.

“I actually bought an iPhone just so I could FaceTime with Embiid,” the Sixers president shared.

For what it's worth, the communication between Daryl Morey and Joel Embiid has been a resounding success, especially with the team dominating the Eastern Conference (25-12 win-loss record) behind the stellar play of the Cameroonian.

In fact, Embiid is currently leading the MVP race, ahead of the likes of LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. Entering Saturday's contest against the Washington Wizards, JoJo is averaging 30.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game–clear proof of his impact and dominance on both ends of the floor for the Sixers.

Of course, the job is not yet done as the Sixers look to exorcise the playoff demons they have encountered over the past few years. Nonetheless, it is clear Morey and Embiid are doing what they can to do just that–one FaceTime at a time.
