Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is the newest superstar to sign with Under Armour, and the larger-than-basketball Sixers star opens up about his life and what he hopes to accomplish with the brand.

Embiid penned a letter for Under Armour about his long and winding road to the NBA. Embiid dealt with the tragic loss of his younger brother Arthur, who died in a car accident, and now he hopes to help people like his brother always did. The 24-year-old big man was discovered at Luc Mbah a Moute's camp in Africa, and his life changed from that point forward.

“When I sat down with Under Armour, one of the first things we talked about was how this can be bigger than just shoes, bigger than just basketball. I want to help change people’s lives like Luc changed my life.”

Embiid is one of the most outspoken figures in the NBA, so it's easy to get caught up in hating him. He's always trolling your team's favorite player or bullying your team's big men into submission. But all of his antics are harmless and the trash talk makes the game more compelling.

After hearing Embiid's story and what he hopes to accomplish with Under Armour, it's easy to root for him. He hopes to one day have the same impact that Mbah a Moute had on him. His deal with Under Armour increases his platform and hopefully, he can use his influence to change people's lives.
