Joel Embiid has never been shy about expressing his confidence in himself and in the Philadelphia 76ers. When asked by Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports about the Sixers' potential first round match-ups, Embiid had a typical response.

The Sixers goal is to make the playoffs and their last two opponents, the Celtics and Raptors, could be a potential first-round matchup. “We always want to come out and try to dominate and let them know that it's not going to be easy,” Joel Embiid said.

The Sixers are currently 21-20 in the Eastern Conference. If they maintain one the East's lower playoff spots, the team could wind up being matched up in a series against the Boston Celtics or the Toronto Raptors. While the 76ers are a feisty team that is oozing with talent, they will clearly be the underdogs against both teams. Embiid appears to be realistic with his team's chances, refusing to mention that the Sixers will beat both teams but rather show them that it won't be easy to put them out. Still, if the 76ers are going to make the postseason, the Raptors and Celtics may be the team they will face, but Embiid is confident that his team will dominate.

The Sixers defeated the Celtics 89-80 on Thursday night. However, star point guard Kyrie Irving was absent for the marquee game. Still, Embiid has hope in his team's chances of matching up with the Eastern Conference elite. Hopefully, if they make the postseason, Embiid can prove that his money is definitely where his mouth is.
