Joel Embiid is one of the notable members of the Sixers that will be taking part in the All-Star game on Sunday. With Embiid getting a nice share of money for being part of the All-Star festivities, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Embiid is donating his $100,000 in earnings to homeless shelters in Philadelphia.

The Sixers star will be donating the money to provide meals, clothing, and COVID-19 treatments for the people at the shelters. He will also be helping teenagers that are taking part in summer camps and essential care in the Philadelphia-area.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Embiid realizes how some people have been negatively affected in the past year due to losing their jobs, or they have just had bad fortunes since the pandemic began. Also, with it being winter still, Embiid knows that some people need clothes to remain warm.

Since being taken in the 2014 NBA Draft, Embiid has become a fan-favorite on the Sixers, showing off his infectious energy on and off of the court. While Embiid has rubbed some people the wrong way, the veteran big man is showing that he's doing his part in helping those in need.

Heading into All-Star weekend, Embiid has cemented himself as the favorite to win the MVP award when the season concludes. In his first 30 games thus far, Embiid is compiling 30.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while leading the 76ers to the best record in the Eastern Conference. During his career year, Embiid is showing that some things are bigger than basketball.
