Despite accepting his new role as the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Monty Williams will remain with the Philadelphia 76ers for the rest of their postseason, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Much like Luke Walton did when first hired by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016, Williams will coach out his contract with the organization before flying to Phoenix and meeting his soon-to-be new team.

Williams has been an integral part of what the Sixers have done throughout the season, fighting through injuries and the constant shape-shifting due to in-season acquisitions.

Philly is now up 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Semifinal series against the Toronto Raptors, and could potentially move on deeper into the playoffs by besting them in a best-of-seven series.

Williams' rapport with players and extensive experience in NBA sidelines as an assistant will prove as a vital aid to head coach Brett Brown, as he tries to navigate this roster to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The 47-year-old former player spent seven seasons as an assistant coach, including five years with the Portland Trail Blazers and another with the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as a year as the vice president of the San Antonio Spurs.

Williams' collective experience made him a top-of-the-line candidate this offseason, considered by many as the best-available option, which eventually nailed him a five-year deal with the Suns.
