The Philadelphia 76ers have resumed fining Ben Simmons, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Sixers fined Simmons his $360,000 game salary for Thursday's victory over the Detroit Pistons and will continue to fine him moving forward “until he cooperates with team physicians on his mental health issues and fulfills other basketball-related obligations.”

Simmons continues to tell the team that he's not mentally ready to play and is working with mental health professionals via the NBPA. However, the three-time All-Star is reportedly not giving Philly any updates on the situation and is refusing to meet with any consultants provided by the team.

Because of this, the Sixers, just as they did before, will place his future salary into an escrow account for potential future release. The organization released his money from escrow earlier this season when he initially agreed on a path to return to play.

After joining the team for practice, though, Simmons wasn't engaged and was suspended after getting kicked out of a practice. He has since not been practicing in full with the team, instead just participating in some activities with coaches and individual teammates. The Sixers are apparently prepared to fine him again “for failures to participate in other requirements, such as strength training, film study and some presence at team practices and game-day shootarounds.”

Simmons obviously still wants to be traded, but there's nothing going on when it comes to a deal. There's far more likelihood of a trade in mid-December when more players are eligible to be traded, so this could continue for a while.
