The Philadelphia 76ers are still noncommittal on rookie Markelle Fultz returning to the active list, after head coach Brett Brown noted the team hadn't made a decision regarding his impending return to the court, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Despite all the controversy surrounding his shot form, Fultz has looked better and better during practice, including his willingness to step out to the 3-point line and start launching with confidence, a rare sight during his first four games with the team this season.
Yet placing him back with the team involves a re-acclimation of the rookie into the system, having had no contact play with his teammates since first suffering the injury.
The Sixers are vying for the highest possible spot in the East in preparation to the playoffs, and bringing Fultz in would represent another in-game adjustment to make at a vital point of the season, as Brown and the coaching staff look to narrow a more stable rotation for these important playoff games.
While no one is expecting a heroic undertaking, there's the feeling that the Sixers would rather develop Fultz' game on the practice floor and allow him to come back at full-go next season, rather than test him out at such a pivotal point of the season, putting that much more stress in his situation.
The sixth-seeded Sixers will take on the third place Pacers tonight, separated only by two games and making this game all the more important with 17 games left in the regular season.
