Philadelphia 76ers young shooting guard Tyrese Maxey is in the midst of a breakout and just bested Sixers great Allen Iverson. Maxey became the youngest player in Sixers history to score 30 or more points in back to back games, as noted by The Athletic.

Maxey dropped 33 points Thursday in a 115-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors. On Tuesday, Maxey scored 31 points against the Milwaukee Bucks. Maxey just turned 21 years old on November 4th.

Despite his efforts, the Sixers lost both games. Philadelphia is in need of more scoring and as super star Ben Simmons continues to sit out. That has allowed for more minutes for the young rising star.

Maxey is averaging 16 points per game, to go along with almost five assists and four rebounds. Not bad for someone so young.

Tyrese Maxey was a standout at Kentucky under Coach Calipari. He was another one of Coach Cal's one and done's. The Sixers drafted him 21st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. During his rookie season, he did not get a ton of playing time averaging under 16 minutes per game.

But he showed flashes of what he could become when he got onto the court. Entering his 2nd year, he has taken massive leaps forward, on both ends of the court. His athleticism is on display every night and he provides Sixers fans something to look forward to.

It still remains to be seen how the Ben Simmons saga will end. Philadelphia has hopes of winning an NBA title this year and if they are unable to improve via trade with Simmons, they are going to need a lot more games like these from Maxey.
