The Philadelphia 76ers might have to wait a bit longer for their new acquisition Wilson Chandler to take part in some basketball action.

As reported by Keith Pompey of philly.com, 76ers head coach Brett Brown shared that Chandler, whom they acquired via trade over the summer, is still ‘a ways away' from returning from a hamstring injury he sustained two weeks ago.

To recall, Chandler suffered the hamstring injury in their preseason game against Melbourne United on September 28. The Sixers got Chandler via trade from the Denver Nuggets a future second-round draft pick to Philadelphia in exchange for cash considerations last July.

Wilson Chandler, who's expected to take on a crucial backup role, might take some more time developing some chemistry with his new teammates. For Brown, it usually takes a third of a year before the team reaches a level of comfort with each other. Along with Chandler, Jerryd Bayless, too, is out with a sprained left knee.

“It's going to take a third of a year,” Brown said of getting things figured out. “A lot of new faces, and soon Wilson is going come back into it.”

“We'll try to get us organized as best as we can try and find a rhythm,” Brown said. “I think that this first third, that is the challenge, Then you start consolidating and you try to walk a season down.”

Wilson Chandler was the 23rd overall pick by the New York Knicks in the 2007 NBA Draft. He has spent the last seven seasons donning the Nuggets jersey prior to being traded to the Sixers. Chandler, a 6-foot-9 forward, has career averages of 13.5 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
