If anyone thought there wouldn't be multiple layers of drama to Ben Simmons' offseason with the Sixers, think again. As if things weren't on edge after a deflating, disappearing act by Simmons in the NBA playoffs, now it appears the all-star has a follow-up act this offseason for Philly.

The Sixers need to decide this offseason whether to trade Simmons or let it ride again next season. To get a better grasp on this, they'd likely need to see where his head is at this offseason and see how his workouts are coming along. According to one report from Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Philly hasn't even been able to get ahold of Simmons yet this summer.

I’m not gonna write this in the story, but I’ll tell this to you guys and you guys can do what you want with it. They haven’t been able to really even get in touch with Ben since the season ended. Like, there was an intent to have a workout plan or whatever — like in any offseason…It just doesn’t sound like there’s ever been movement to come together on the same page to do that, and it hasn’t really worked this summer either.

Yikes. If Simmons really is going ghost mode on the Sixers, it's hard to imagine scenarios where Philly tries to bring him back with the rest of their core, primarily Joel Embiid.

Simmons' struggles in the postseason were well documented and his woes from the free-throw line were historically bad. Yet, the all-star still has plenty of potential and is a top tier defender in the NBA despite his limitations shooting the ball offensively.

Now, it's on the Sixers to figure out what to do for the rest of this summer and moving ahead.
