Despite endless news that the writing is on the wall for Ben Simmons in Philadelphia, the 76ers point forward remains very visibly still on the roster.

Sixers president Daryl Morey has evidently tried to generate as much value for his star by asking for absurdly high trade packages in return. But as we draw closer and closer to the start of the season without a trade in sight, things could reportedly take an “ugly” turn, per The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor on his podcast show The Mismatch:

“Right now, Philly is in wait-and-see mode,” said O'Connor. “They might take this into training camp, things might get ugly. “You will hear the PR statements from Simmons’ side of the media: ‘I want to be here’. “

Unless he takes the approach that: ‘I don’t want to be here, I want to be traded’ and things get really gross, really quick and that could accelerate things. Klutch and Simmons could take that path if this goes into training camp.

Ben Simmons isn't shielded from all the reports that we've all seen as well. He has been shopped around virtually every team this offseason and things have seemingly gone past the point of no return between him and the Sixers:

“In about one month people are going to be coming to training camp… so even though things are quiet today, training camp is right around the corner.

“It is coming fast so this stuff could accelerate fast when training camp does begin.”

The closer we get to Sixers training camp, the spicier things are going to get in Philadelphia.
