While the trade rumors involving the Philadelphia 76ers sending Ben Simmons elsewhere have really died down, there's still a belief among many in the NBA that he has played his last game in Philly.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic, many executives in the league expect a trade to happen sooner rather than later.

So far, Simmons’ situation remains the same. While the 76ers have told teams they are comfortable bringing Simmons back for the 2021-22 season, rival executives believe it’s only a matter of when — not if — the All-Defensive team stalwart is moved.

For now, all signs continue to point to Simmons’ career in Philadelphia coming to an end.

This update shouldn't surprise anyone the real question is whether or not the Sixers will still have Simmons once training camp begins. If they do, the next question is would Simmons even show up?

Simmons had a disastrous postseason for the Sixers which was topped with plenty of booing raining down from Philly fans whe Simmons and the 76ers were eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks.

Shams notes that the Sixers received official offers from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors for Simmons but neither offer intrigued Philly all too much.

At some point, the Sixers will have to juggle the reality of either keeping Simmons and trying to work things out (which seems highly unlikely) or biting the bullet and lowering the asking price just a bit. As training camp creeps closer, it will be intriguing to see what trigger Philly pulls.
