Arsenal once again built on momentum at this stage in the Premier League campaign as it came away with a 2-0 home win over Leicester City. The Gunners had plenty of standout performers across the board in the match, including playmaker Martin Odegaard.
Overall, Odegaard earned a start in Arteta’s 4-2-3-1 setup as the main central attacking midfielder in the formation. Odegaard wound up taking on a role as a playmaker in the contest, and while he did not record an assist, he did create a team-high six goal-scoring chances for teammates.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was much pleased with the showing from the Norwegian midfielder, which he touched on in his post-match press conference.
“He was terrific again today in every aspect of the game,” Arteta said.
Arsenal signed Odegaard from Real Madrid over the recent summer transfer window on a €35 million deal coupled with potential add-ons.

“It’s still a little bit early to say that,” Arteta said. “We were certainly convinced that was a player who could fit in our club, in our model, that has every value that we want from the players to represent this club and then that has the qualities to do what we want to do. We are really happy with him.”
As it stands, Odegaard ranks in the top 10 in the Premier League this season in key passes per match with a 2.1 average.
