On Wednesday, it was officially announced that Chelsea has secured a loan deal for Romelu Lukaku, sending him back to his former club Inter Milan. It was crystal clear throughout the entire 2021-22 campaign that he wanted to return to Italy after the bombshell interview and the Belgian now gets his wish. To make matters even worse for the Blues and their supporters, it appears Lukaku was in frequent contact with Inter boss Simone Inzaghi throughout the entire campaign. Talk about a gut punch for Chelsea, who spent over $100 million to sign the striker last August.

Kinsella translated the interview from Italian to English and Lukaku spoke out about his secret conversations with Inzaghi. Once Chelsea hears about this, the side will not be the least bit pleased.

Lukaku struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring just eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances. Although the Belgium international did deal with injury setbacks, he just frankly fell down the pecking order under manager Thomas Tuchel.

In Milan again, the hope is Lukaku can find his previous form and potentially return to Chelsea next summer. But, it's unknown if they'd even want him back after this latest revelation. His relationship with Tuchel is clearly strained, too and it feels unlikely he'll ever play for the club again. Only time will tell. For now, Blues fans are just glad he's gone.
