Chelsea secured the signing of Thiago Silva on a free transfer from PSG prior to the 2020/21 campaign, but no one could've predicted the 37-year-old would have such a huge impact on the side's success.

Silva recently opened up on life at Stamford Bridge and revealed that he couldn't be any happier as he reaches the twilight years of his career.

“I feel like I’m living a dream here at Chelsea. I wasn’t expecting something like that. The fans are always singing my name… it’s magic. It’s a dream.”

The Chelsea supporters absolutely love Silva, who is the backbone of their defense. He was brilliant once again on Tuesday in the Champions League Round of 16 as Thomas Tuchel's men cruised to a 2-0 victory over French outfit Lille in the first leg. Silva helped the Blues secure another clean sheet at home in Europe's most prized competition as well.

It's safe to say that Chelsea would've never imagined Thiago Silva would be such a vital piece of their squad after joining for free. Talk about a bargain for the UCL title-holders. When a player is happy, he is always going to perform at his best and this is exactly what we're seeing with Silva.

It would be no surprise to see him finish out his footballing journey with the Blues.
