Christian Eriksen made one thing clear during his return to football after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last summer: He will do everything imaginable to get back into the Denmark national team and earn a spot for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Well on Tuesday, Eriksen took one step closer to his goal. The Brentford midfielder was called up by Denmark for their upcoming friendlies against Serbia and the Netherlands this month after making three appearances for the Bees and notching his first assist over the weekend.

Many believed Christian Eriksen would never play the sport again after he had to be resuscitated in Copenhagen. Thankfully, his recovery went very smoothly and now, he's back playing in the Premier League. The Dane was under contract at Inter Milan but the two sides mutually agreed to part ways due to Italy's health regulations against players being fitted with defibrillators.

Following months of training, that's when Brentford came calling and offered Eriksen a six-month deal with the option to extend. He came on as a substitute in his club debut against Newcastle but Eriksen has now played the full 90 in his last two appearances, setting up the winning goal on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Christian Eriksen has officially defied all the odds and now he will get to do his thing at the international level again. There's still quite some time until Qatar, but at this rate, he'll be a shoo-in for the Denmark squad.
