Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic has not even spent a mere half-season with Juventus, and he is already drawing comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo from club vice president Pavel Nedved.
Vlahovic earned a start for Juventus in its narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina in the opening leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal tie. While Vlahovic did not go on to extend his goals streak in all competitions to three matches, he was quite active in Juventus’ two-striker setup upfront. He created one goal-scoring chance and also won seven ground duels over the course of the match.
Nedved watched the early years of Ronaldo’s career and also helped to bring him to Juventus. Overall, he sees a bit of Ronaldo in the Serbian international, which he touched on after the match to the Italian-based outlet SportMediaSet.
“I'll be honest, Vlahovic surprised me too,” Nedved said. “There are comparisons to some of the tops like Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I knew he was a very good player, but he was born in 2000 and if he continues with this mentality, he can really do great things.
“I am convinced the future belongs to him.”
Vlahovic has so far scored four goals in all competitions with the Bianconeri this season, which include his double against Empoli in Serie A play.
Juventus still has plenty to play for in the ongoing campaign, especially as it is in the midst of its UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Villarreal.
