Manchester United is set for what can be tabbed as the biggest test of its season to date in the upcoming derby matchup against Manchester City on Premier League matchday 28. However, forward Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly not be featuring in the clash.
As noted by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has elected to not include Ronaldo in the squad list for the encounter.
The Portuguese international has been a regular in training as of late, but at the moment, it is not known whether he is currently dealing with any notable injury.
Ronaldo last featured for Manchester United in its scoreless draw result against Watford in league play. Overall, he has been in sluggish form for the side in all competitions, which include a mere one open play goal scored in his last 10 appearances.
Manchester United will also not have Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani available for the contest, as he remains sidelined due to a groin injury.
It remains to be seen just how Rangnick will opt to line up his side against the reigning Premier League champions. At the least, Marcus Rashford may be in line for a start in the fixture. He last earned a start for Manchester United in the opening leg of its UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash with Atletico Madrid.
