Ralf Rangnick was set to remain with Manchester United as a consultant after Erik ten Hag took over the role as club manager. Well, that is no more, as Rangnick is now leaving Manchester United in order to focus on his duties as Austria's coach.

Manchester United released this statement Sunday on the decision, per The Athletic:

“We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months.

“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”

Rangnick was the interim manager for Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got sacked back in November. Unfortunately, things continued to go south for the legendary club, with Rangnick winning just 11 out of 29 matches as coach. Man U finished the English Premier League season with their worst points mark in their EPL history. They were also eliminated in the Champions League Round of 16 by Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United will move forward with ten Hag manning the sidelines. He officially took over the club earlier this month after inking a three-year deal to leave Ajax for Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo is still on board, but Man U must make some major changes in order to return to glory.

Whatever those changes are, they will not happen with Ralf Rangnick as part of the club.
