As the summer transfer window is looming ahead, Juventus club officials are already orchestrating plans to offload a versatile midfielder.

According to the Spanish-based outlet Mundo Deportivo, Juventus has decided that it will push to keep Alvaro Morata at the club. The Spanish international joined the Serie A side in 2020 on a loan deal coupled with a €35 million buy option.

Juventus club officials have no interest in paying such a hefty amount for Morata, so they are turning to two options to address this dilemma. For one, Juventus would be open to settling at a €20-€25 million transfer fee for Morata, although Atletico Madrid does not aspire to offload him for such an amount.

On the other hand, Juventus would also be open to signing Morata in exchange for a set transfer fee and midfielder Weston McKennie.

The American international “does not enjoy the full confidence” of the coaching staff, and thus, club officials are open to including him in a deal that would keep Morata at the club.

Juventus signed McKennie from FC Schalke 04 on a four-year permanent transfer deal last year. The American talent has since gone on to feature as a wide and base midfielder for the Serie A powerhouse, which has included six appearances in UEFA Champions League play in the ongoing campaign. He will not play again for the club this season due to a broken foot injury suffered in February.

McKennie may have already played in his final match at Juventus, but a move to Atletico Madrid could be just what is needed for him at this stage in his career.
