West Ham defender was seen kicking and slapping his cat on video in February, which resulted in him losing a sponsorship with Adidas while also getting fined for two weeks of salary. The UK courts have now decided on the punishment for Zouma and he will not face jail time.

The center-back is expected to serve 180 hours of community services for his actions, pleading guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals. He's also banned from owning a cat for a total of five year, per ESPN.

The West Ham mainstay continued to play after the incident, with David Moyes selecting him when fit. But, Zouma faced a lot of backlash for his actions. His brother, who filmed the video, is also set to serve 140 hours of community service and his club, Dagenham & Redbridge FC, suspended him after the video surfaced.

“Both of you took part in this disgraceful and reprehensible act with this pet cat,” district judge Susan Holdham said.

“The cat looked up to you to care for its needs. On that date in February you did not provide for its needs.”

West Ham also released this statement, via ESPN:

“West Ham United can confirm that Kurt Zouma has been handed a community service order following an investigation by the RSPCA.

“West Ham United wishes to make clear that we condemn in the strongest terms any form of animal abuse or cruelty. This type of behaviour is unacceptable and is not in line with the values of the football club.”

Kurt Zouma remains a member of the club, but he'll have a summer filled with community service for his inexcusable actions.
