Former Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors guard Sonny Weems has had quite the journey since initially leaving the NBA.

The 30-year-old has played for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, CSKA Moscow in Russia, returned for short NBA stints, and has now signed a two-year deal with Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Weems was recently added to the list of active players that maintain a blog on Eurohoops, where he outlined his plans to make a significant mark on the Israeli league:

“Everybody says to me that I am a scorer. During the summer I worked hard and prepared myself in order to be able to do everything on the court. I am able to pass, to play defense, to get the rebound. Regardless of how the world sees me, I am the type of player that does it all well on the court. I’m thirsty and I am determined to constantly do everything for my team on the court. I want to develop myself in such ways so I can be the… LeBron James of Maccabi.”

LeBron James’ name is synonymous with greatness, therefore, if Weems is to fulfill his ambition then he needs to be better than everyone around him.
