Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink suffered a torn ACL in the team's 79-70 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, which ends her season, and after finding out the diagnosis on Tuesday, Brink took to social media to release a statement to the fans, saying that she will be back.

“You never think it will happen to you. And despite all the hard work sometimes it does,” Cameron Brink said in her post. “This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger. I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I'm not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work everyday to get back to it. It's not goodbye basketball it's just a see you later. I'm always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers. 💜💛 #delayednotdenied”

It is a big blow for the Sparks, who are hoping that Brink one day is a player who helps lead the franchise back to the top of the WNBA. Still, it should not impact the long-term vision for the team. Brink provided a lot of optimism with her performance so far this season, especially on the defensive end of the floor.

Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in 15 games before suffering the season-ending ACL tear.  Brink will have to improve her efficiency when it comes to shooting, but there was enough promise for the Sparks to build a team with her in mind for the long-term.

Cameron Brink receives outpouring of support after tearing her ACL

When Brink suffered her injury against the Sun on Tuesday, there was a fear that it might be the worst case scenario with an ACL injury. WNBA fans came out with well wishes starting last night, and especially after the announcement of the diagnosis on Wednesday. Her teammate, Dearica Hamby came out with a post on X as well in support.

It is clear that Brink has the support of her team and the WNBA world as a whole. She is one of the bright prospects from this year's rookie class and can still be a big part of the continued growth of the league in the next few years.

As far as this season, the Sparks are 4-11 after the loss to the Sun. They are one game out of a playoff spot, however. It will be tough to make it without Brink in the lineup, but there still is something to play for, even though the franchise likely does not expect to be contending deep into the playoffs this year. Hopefully there are some things to build off of the rest of this season as the Sparks try to help Brink in her long rehab ahead.
