After missing his team's first seven games of the season, San Antonio Spurs‘ guard Danny Green is now closing in on his return. The 29-year-old sharpshooter is recovering from a left quad strain which has kept him sidelined for the past weeks.

As part of his rehabilitation, the team has assigned him to their D-League affiliate, the Austin Spurs, where he'll practice and work on getting back in game-shape. He will be joined there by San Antonio's two rookies, Bryn Forbes and Dejounte Murray.

When Green returns, he will provide much needed outside shooting for the Spurs who currently rank 23rd in the NBA in three-point percentage. For Forbes and Murray, it gives them a chance to further develop their skills and make themselves ready to play for the team when they're given a call-up.

Green is a career 40 percent shooter from three-point distance and owns averages of 9.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in his seven seasons in the league. But most importantly, it's the veteran experience that he brings to the table which makes him a vital piece of the Spurs' success.
