San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon is on the verge of making NBA history. All she needs is head coach Gregg Popovich to be ejected and she will be the first female head coach in the NBA.

Spurs guard Bryn Forbes spoke on the possibility and joked that Pop should just get it over with and get thrown out of the first regular-season game.

Thankfully for Hammon, Forbes — and those who are waiting to see history made — Popovich is not a coach who shies away from getting ejected. He is used to speaking his mind to referees and not holding back if he believes they made a bad call.

In fact, Pop holds an interesting record for the fastest ejection by an NBA head coach in history. In a matchup with the Denver Nuggets in the 2018-19 season, the Spurs legend was thrown out just 63 seconds into the contest, breaking the previous record of 105 seconds.

While it's unlikely Pop gets thrown out this fast ever again, it's probable that Hammon gets her chance at some point this season.

The six-time WNBA All-Star has certainly earned the right to be a head coach. She has been an assistant coach with the Spurs since 2014, and multiple NBA players have praised her intelligence and coaching ability.

Here's to hoping Poppovich mouths off a little bit too much early in the season so Hammon gets her shot at leading an NBA team.
