DeMar DeRozan is not going to get used to being a member of the San Antonio Spurs any time soon, though, he’s getting there slowly but surely.

It was once considered inconceivable that the Toronto Raptors would trade DeRozan, the face of the franchise over the past several years, but last week, they just did. They packaged DeRozan together with Jakob Poeltl and a future draft pick in a trade with the Spurs that got Toronto the pair of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

DeMar DeRozan, whose current contract won’t expire until 2021, said that days have gone like a blur since learning that he’s no longer a Raptor during a one-on-one interview with Chris Haynes of ESPN.

“It was a blur. It was a dream. Still kind of feels like a dream, right now. It’s been tough. Had this rollercoaster, up and down, just trying to get acclimated to changing teams.”

DeRozan is not the first player in the history of the NBA to be traded, but seeing a player of his stature and at the prime of his career get traded will always come as a shock to observers. With that said, one could only imagine what DeRozan himself is going through right now.

In San Antonio, DeRozan will look to complete the mission he failed to do so in Toronto, which is to win his first NBA title.
