With Kawhi Leonard still not playing for the San Antonio Spurs, and the reported meeting imploring him to start playing again, things are shaky in that part of Texas, to say the least.

Leonard has missed all but nine games this season due to a strange injury. He was reportedly eyeing a comeback in recent days, but has since decided he was not ready to play. Now the conversation shifts to whether Leonard is worth all these recent headaches.

There's at least one person who believes Leonard is not. Max Kellerman of ESPN's “First Take” said on Thursday morning's show that the Spurs should look to trade him and tank the rest of the season. Kellerman added that with the Spurs' luck, they could end up with Arizona's DeAndre Ayton in the lottery, much like they got Tim Duncan 20 years ago.

Kellerman's statement seemed to be a bit sarcastic. But he does think the Spurs should trade Leonard over the summer.

“I believe this relationship is damaged and I think the Spurs can get a king's ransom for him now,” Kellerman said. “If I were them, that's what I would do in this offseason. I would move Kawhi Leonard and look forward to the next era without him.”

Stephen A. Smith, however, was on the opposite end of the spectrum. He said during the segment that the Spurs should only get rid of Leonard if he communicates emphatically that he wants to leave. Otherwise, keep him.

“I'm not letting him go if I'm the San Antonio Spurs because he's a superstar in this league, arguably one of the top three or four players in the world,” Smith said.

Both sides of this argument make plenty of sense, which is probably why these two personalities have a television show. It's a hard decision to make, but whatever happens, at least it will put an end to all this drama that seems to be quite unnecessary.
