One of the disappearing acts in the NBA has been Kawhi Leonard's absence from the San Antonio Spurs lineup. This has began in the 2017 Western Conference Finals, where Leonard sustained an ankle injury that kept him out for the rest of the series. In the regular season, Leonard has been plagued with a variety of pesky injuries that has hindered his return.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN, head coach Gregg Popovich still does not believe that his star small forward will miss the rest of the season.

When asked about it, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich ruled out the possibility of Kawhi Leonard missing the rest of the season due to his quadriceps injury. Leonard is out indefinitely.

The Spurs are currently third place in the Western Conference, which is amazing since Leonard has missed a majority of the 2017-2018 season. This goes to show that the Spurs are still NBA contenders even without Leonard, which wholly accounts to their amazing depth across their rotation. Popovich is often a man of his word, so Leonard should return somewhere down the line. The Spurs shouldn't rush the two-time Defensive Player of the Year to return quickly. After all, they have proved that they can win games and compete at the top of the Western Conference standings, thanks to the grit of the Spurs' roster and the genius of Popovich.

However, the Spurs will need Leonard as they try to compete in the postseason. Hopefully, Leonard can return healthy down the road, and the Spurs can acclimate him into their lineup quickly before the postseason begins.
