There's been a lot of speculation that San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich could hang them up this offseason after more than two decades at the helm for this franchise. But, Pop's latest move indicates that he'll be back on the bench in 2022-23.

The Spurs boss personally called all of the Spurs' picks from the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday to welcome them aboard. Per Jeff McDonald of The San Antonio Express:

Also, if you're still wondering on June 24 if Gregg Popovich is coming back to coach the Spurs next season … he was the guy calling each of the team's draft picks last night to say welcome aboard.

The Spurs took Baylor standout Jeremy Sochan at No. 9, Malaki Branham at 20, and Blake Wesley at 25. The fact that Pop picked up the phone and called each of them separately not only speaks to the classy man he is but also proves he's likely not finished with coaching this group.

San Antonio finished with a 34-48 record last season and lost to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Play-In Tournament. With an intriguing young core in place led by Dejounte Murray, better days could certainly be ahead for the Spurs. If Gregg Popovich does indeed return, it will be his 27th season in charge. There were some rumors flying around that Quin Snyder could be his replacement, but as of right now, all signs are pointing towards Pop offering his expertise again in a few months' time.
