San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is aware that it is Bryn Forbes' final year under contract. He revealed that the Spurs ‘would love' to keep the guard on the roster.

Per Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News, Popovich hinted that the Spurs are looking to offer a lucrative contract to Forbes.

“This is his last year under contract, so either we are going to have to pay him or lose him.” And you would prefer to pay him, the reporter said. Pop's reply: “We would love to do that.”

Forbes entered the NBA in 2016 as an undrafted prospect. Since then, the Michigan-native has steadily turned into one of the Spurs' rising young stars. Last season, he played 82 games — 81 of which as the team's starting guard. Apart from running the Spurs' fluid offense, Forbes showcased his shooting touch from deep. He shot 42.6 percent from downtown last year — his personal best and ninth in the entire NBA.

This year — his fourth in the NBA — he's shooting at 42.9 percent in the Spurs' first three games. It's too early to tell if he can replicate or even improve upon his performance last year. But it's safe to say that he's off to a good start.

The Spurs have proven yet again their keen eye for talent. And when they see talent, they keep it and further nurture it more often than not.
