Demar Derozan is having a strong 2019-20 campaign for the San Antonio Spurs. However, Derozan missed out on making this year's All-Star team.

Derozan's exclusion from the main event of the All-Star weekend festivities in Chicago reportedly surprised Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, per Jeff McDonald of ESPN. Pop, however, understood that his star shooting guard might have missed the team due to their sub-par record.

All-Star snubs always become a talking point whenever the All-Stars are announced. This year, the Spurs talent definitely deserved to be at least in the conversation for the final 12 out West.

Derozan was a multiple time All-Star in his time with the Toronto Raptors. He made the team four times in his nine seasons with the Canadian-based franchise. Unfortunately, since his move to San Antonio, Derozan has yet to make an All-Star appearance.

Perhaps, as Pop suggested, much of this has to do with the Spurs' record this season. San Antonio's record through 48 games is 22-26. They are currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference, trailing the no. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies by 1.5 games.

Individually, though, the 30-year old shooting guard is averaging 23.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 34.4 minutes per contest. He is also shooting a career-best 53.8 percent from the field and 84.5 percent from the foul line.

Picked ahead of Derozan in the backcourt reserves were Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), 2-time All-Star game MVP Russell Westbrook (Houston Rockets), 15-year veteran Chris Paul (Oklahoma City Thunder), and first timer Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz). All these selections belonged in teams with winning records in the West.

While it's difficult to leave out someone from that list to put in the Spurs star, there's no doubt that Derozan is having an All-Star worthy campaign this season.
