San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has always been a man of few words. On Sunday, the legendary mentor once again chose to cut down on his word count and dished out three simple words with regards to the Spurs' 35-point blowout loss against the Philadelphia 76ers (via News 4 San Antonio).

“We played badly.”

“Badly” is definitely the most appropriate term to describe the Spurs' effort. Despite the absence of MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid, the Sixers breezed through the visiting Spurs right from the get-go, mounting an 11-point lead after the opening quarter. The game broke open in the second half as the Sixers kept putting the pedal to the metal and outscored Popovich and his wards, 46-21 in the third quarter.

The Spurs shot the ball horrendously in the 134-99 defeat. They were just 4-of-21 from deep while the Sixers shot almost 52 percent. No one from the Spurs got to 20 points with Derrick White and Drew Eubanks scoring 17 each to lead the way.

Dejounte Murray, who had 14 points, also spoke to the media after the rout. Unlike Popovich, Murray had more than three words about their horrible loss. He was also a bit more positive (via JeffGSpursZone).

“I think everybody here wants to win. You can see it in the locker room in their faces. We have to get to Detroit safe and be ready to play tomorrow.”

Gregg Popovich and the Spurs have now lost three of their last four outings and are looking to bounce back against the Detroit Pistons on Monday as their five-game road trip continues.
