San Antonio Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray says Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James told him to “stay confident and be patient” during his ACL rehab.

Murray tore his right ACL last preseason and missed the entire 2018-19 season. The Spurs guard and James share the same agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, and have developed a close bond.

It’s no secret Murray and James have a tight bond. They share the same agent, Rich Paul, but Murray views James as a big brother. Last summer, Murray worked out with James but will not do so this year as he’s fully engaged in his rehab, which Murray would later tell The Athletic is ahead of schedule.

Asked the biggest advice James provided during Murray’s rehab process, he said: “He just told me to stay confident and be patient. You already put in the work. You don’t need me to tell you to put in the work. That’s mostly what I took from him, just stay confident and be patient.”

Murray averaged 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists during the 2017-18 season while shooting 44.3 percent from the field. He will be the Spurs' starting point guard this season and can't wait to show the world he's going to be a special player in San Antonio despite the ACL injury.
